* comb/brush * hairpins/bobbypins * hairnet (same color as hair) * hair tie * hairspray * hair gel
Step 1: spray some hairspray on the hair to gain better control. Gather the hair in the back
Step 2: use a hairbrush to smooth out the rough or uneven areas. Form a ponytail on the back of the head right in the middle. (mid-bun) Use an elastic hair tie to secure the bun. Use more hairspray/gel to keep the ponytail neat. The location of the ponytail will determine where the bun will be.
Step 3: Twist the ponytail around, and then coil the ponytail into a tight circle around the hair tie.
Step 4: Use hairpins around the entire bun to secure the coil down to the head.
Step 5: Wrap your hair net around the bun. Keep twisting and wrapping until the hair net is tight and secure. * a flat bun is the most desirable. At this point if the bun is not flat, you can remove the hair pins (the hairnet will keep the bun in place) and flatten the bun down. From there you put the hairpins back into the bun. *
Step 6: The bun is formed. Place as many bobby pins/hairpins it takes so the bun will not move. Then add more hairspray. There can never be too many hairpins or too much hairspray. If you are not sure if you used enough pins, JUST ADD MORE!!! An easy test for this is..... Have the dancer stand up and jump all around and shake their head as hard as they can. If it doesn't move, YOU'RE BUN IS COMPLETE!!!
